1. What changed?
Effective May 1, 2025, the standard referral fee for all transactions through the HomeStory Referral Network will increase from 25% to 40%.
2. Why did the referral fee increasing?
The increase reflects our continued investment in generating high-quality leads and providing enhanced support throughout the transaction process. The network is experiencing significant growth, and this adjustment enables us to maintain and scale these improvements for our agent partners.
3. Who does this change apply to?
This referral fee update applies specifically to agents who were previously grandfathered in at the 25% rate. Starting May 1, 2025, all such agents transitioned to the standard 40% referral fee for any new referrals assigned going forward.
4. Will this impact existing referrals or contracts?
No. Referrals assigned prior to May 1, 2025 will remain under the existing 25% referral fee structure. Only new referrals assigned on or after that date will be subject to the 40% fee.
5. What if I don’t agree with the new terms?
Agents who preferred not to continue under the updated referral terms were able to opt out of the network by submitting the opt-out form provided in the announcement by April 30, 2025
If you did not submit the form, you can exit the network at anytime by notifying HomeStory by email here: support@homestoryrewards.com
6. Can I rejoin the network later if I opted out?
Yes, opting out does not permanently remove you from consideration. You may be able to rejoin the network in the future, subject to availability and updated terms at that time.
7. How will this change benefit me as an agent?
The increased referral fee directly supports:
- Higher volume of qualified leads
- Improved agent support resources
- Enhanced lead nurturing and conversion strategies
- Continued investment in technology and tools that support transactions
8. Will the increased fee affect my commission split with my brokerage?
This depends on your brokerage’s policy. We recommend checking with your managing broker to understand how external referral fees are treated in your commission structure.
9. Where can I see the official announcement?
The original communication was sent via email on April 1, 2025. If you did not receive it or would like another copy, let our support team know.
